Accountability guidelines for finances

Here are some accountability guidelines that our group members have used to protect themselves from using money to pursue sexual sin. The idea behind these is to severely restrict accessibility and thereby make the pursuit of sexual sin more difficult. Please note: performing these actions will not free a person from captivity to sexual sin. Transformation by Jesus Christ is the only means to finding freedom from sexual sin. These guidelines merely are restrictions to carry a person through times of temptation. Our experience has been that no matter how much or how little money a person has at hand, the best protection against sexual sin is a changed heart.

Carry no money, credit cards, debit cards, etc. with you.
Place all financial accessibility in the hands of your wife or other trusted family member, including checks in that person's name alone. Have them give you money only for specified purposes, and have them require a receipt and change after the purchase is made. Have them review all credit card statements, financial statements, etc.
Have your accountability partner ask you regularly, are you hoarding money? Do you have access to any money whatsoever that your wife / accountability partner is unaware of?
If you have personal checks given directly to you for your business, have them written out to a third party or mailed directly to them instead.
