God is calling you from sexual sin to sexual purity. This
workbook is designed to help you understand and follow His call. . . . It is
structured to emphasize the importance of intimate relationships in dealing with
sexual sin. . . Throughout, you will be challenged to reveal openly before God
and other men your heart, mind, and actions as they relate to sexual sin.
This is the first of four workbooks
used in our discipleship
program.
"You are entering this accountability
agreement or group because you are suffering the effects of sexual sin and
desire to change your behavior.
God does not want you to be in bondage to sexual sins, but His primary desire is
not to see you stop them. His primary desire is to have a loving, intimate
relationship with you. Your sexual sins are an obstacle to that relationship. He
desires not only to remove these behaviors, but many other sinful behaviors and
attitudes that restrict your relationship with Him.
"As you relate intimately to God, He will grow within you
the character of His Son, Jesus Christ. Rather than merely stopping sinful
behaviors, He will grow within you something alive and active: the holiness,
sexual purity and righteousness of His Son. This workbook will remind you to
look beyond the paltry, second-class prize -- not engaging in sexual sin -- and
to pursue the real prize: a vibrant, abundant relationship with God in which you
live out the character of Jesus Christ." (from Introduction)

2 Heart of the Problem: How to Stop Coping and Find a
Cure for Your Struggles by Henry Brandt and Kerry L. Skinner
This is the second of four workbooks we use in our discipleship program.
Although it does not confront the issue of sexual sin directly, it deals
biblically with many other areas that men with sexual sin have difficulty
handling: anger, forgiveness, self-centeredness, anxiety, and more. The units on
anger and finding relief vs. finding a cure are excellent. We have also used
this workbook in our support group for the wives of men who attend our accountability
groups. It is divided into 12 week-long units of five days each with Scripture
to memorize each week.
"There is no wiser teacher in the Christian world than Henry Brandt. I
have profited enormously from his work -- you will too!" -- Chuck Colson
"Henry Brandt has done a great service to the earnest, seeking heart by
doing two things
Confronting us with ourselves, and often at our most difficult and
bewildering moments.
Confronting us with God's clear provision for our every condition...
We have too much of the 'world's counsel and reasoning' as a substitute for
God's counsel and truth. Brandt presents a refreshing and much-needed 'return to
God!'"

3 The Walk of Repentance by Steve Gallagher
This is the third of four workbooks we use in our discipleship program.
Whereas the other workbooks include much sound explanation of Bible verses, this
workbook equips and guides the reader to do the deep, rewarding work of Bible
study for himself. It is divided into 24 weeks; five days of exercises require a
half hour, preferably one hour of study each. Developed by Steve Gallagher,
founder and director of Pure Life Ministries, a live-in program for men
struggling with sexual sin located in Dry Ridge, Kentucky.
"What is it that stops people from finding the deliverance they so
intensely seek after? The answer, says the author, is that people try to get the
victory through human, carnal rationale and methods instead of through God's
ways... Deliverance of sin is something that must happen in the heart and can
only be found through true repentance. Something powerful happens in the heart
when a person finally breaks down before God and surrenders his will. It is
while the person is in that state of lowly brokenness that God is finally able
to start the real work of restoration... The Walk of Repentance is a
daily study through Scripture about how to find that repentance and how to
continually live in it." (from workbook cover)
This is the fourth workbook we use in our discipleship program.
We find that men who struggle repeatedly with sexual sin often have a
foundational mistrust of God. This workbook examines the character of God by
studying the names given to Him in Scripture. Includes 42 days of exercises.
"'Some boast in chariots, and some in horses; but we will
boast in the name of the LORD,
our God' (Psalm 20:7) Where do you run for help? When you are in trouble, what
is your first instinct? Do you run to others or to God? Is it usually the
counsel of another rather than the counsel found in waiting upon God in
prayer?... Why don't we run to the arms of our all-sufficient God? I think it's
because most of us don't really know our God... In biblical times a name
represented a person's character. God's name represents His character, His
attributes, His nature. To know His name is to know Him. To boast in His name is
to have confidence in who He is!" (pgs. 14-15)

5 Experiencing God: How to Live the Full Adventure of
Knowing and Doing the Will of God by Henry Blackaby and Claude King
This book is used to help train group facilitators. Available in book, workbook, or combined book/workbook
format.
"Experiencing God identifies and explores seven aspects of
relating to God in a richer, more personal way: knowing, loving, hearing,
joining, believing, obeying, and experiencing. This book encourages each of us
to seek God's guiding hand as He reveals His loving relationship to us. As we
obey and understand God, we become builders of His kingdom. Each chapter
includes key biblical references plus questions for reflection or
discussion." (from inside flap of cover)
