| Whenever possible, take along co-workers or family members on your trip. | |
| If possible, stay with friends at your destination who will be an encouragement to you, not a source of temptation. Schedule visits with good friends to lessen free time. | |
| Have a well-planned itinerary. Have a good backup plan to fill your time wisely in case of cancelled meetings, etc. | |
| Contact area churches about Bible studies, conferences or men's breakfasts that may allow you to visit. | |
| Be accountable for the amount of money you are bringing along and how much you spend, with receipts. | |
| Resolve any marital disputes, conflicts with others or ill-feelings toward others as much as possible before travel. | |
| Have your Bible in hand or easily accessible in your carry-on luggage in airports. If your flight is delayed, take it out and read it. | |
| When speaking to someone with whom you may be tempted to flirt, confirm to yourself the purity of your heart by speaking about your commitment to Christ, your ministry, wife, children, etc. | |
| Stay in a hotel which does not have pay-per-view channels. | |
| Bring along a book to read instead of watching TV. | |
| Ask beforehand if the TV can be removed from your room. If it cannot, as soon as you enter the room, throw a bath towel over the TV, open up a Bible to Romans 6, and place it on top of the TV. Read the chapter each time you are tempted. | |
| As soon as you enter your hotel room for the night, take the phone book, remote control, or any other instruments of your sin out of the room and lock them in your car for the night. | |
| Whether undergoing temptation or not, call an accountability partner and your wife each night of your stay. | |
| Whenever you leave your room, look for a restaurant, or go sightseeing, have a well-defined purpose; do not go out just to explore. |
